Career Centre Leadership

Guiding diverse teams through change

What you'll learn

Career and employment centres are being asked to do more with less, for increasingly diverse client populations, while facing closer scrutiny of outcomes and less predictable funding. The managers and team leads holding it together were rarely trained to lead, and professional development in the sector has focused on client-facing skills rather than leading the people who deliver it.

This recorded webinar series equips career centre leaders with practical frameworks to lead through change, build inclusive high-performing teams, and make the strategic case for career services without burning out.

Learn to lead through change without absorbing all of it yourself, and check whether your communication reaches everyone on your team

Learn to audit and redistribute invisible labour that quietly accumulates with the same practitioners, one of the most reliable predictors of burnout

Practise coaching, delegation and feedback conversations that build accountability across cultural differences

Learn to make the strategic case for career services and inclusive practice, in language senior decision-makers act on

And much more!

This recorded webinar series was hosted live in fall 2026 and explored practical strategies to help career centre leaders guide diverse teams though change without burning out.

Webinars Overview

In this webinar you will:

  • Analyze the drivers of change affecting your centre and assess how those changes land differently across a diverse team, including staff on precarious or grant-funded contracts
  • Apply a structured sense-making and communication cadence that reaches a culturally and linguistically diverse team through ambiguity and incomplete information
  • Demonstrate state-management techniques from coaching psychology to remain grounded in high-pressure and culturally complex conversations
  • Identify early indicators of change fatigue across the team and recognize where that load is falling unequally
  • Construct a 30-day communication plan for a change currently underway, tested against whether it actually reaches every member of your team

This webinar will support you to better understand:

  • How to assess team composition, strengths and real capacity, including the invisible labour that diverse practitioners frequently absorb: cultural brokering, interpretation and the most complex client files
  • How to build coaching, delegation and feedback conversations that create accountability across cultural differences without eroding trust
  • Psychological safety practices that account for the unequal risk different team members carry when they speak up
  • The health realities of a predominantly female workforce, including menopause and perimenopause, chronic illness and caregiving load, with practical adjustments that do not depend on disclosure
  • The difference between ordinary workload strain and burnout or compassion fatigue, and how to design a change to workflow, role boundaries or assignment practice that redistributes load equitably

With this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate current programs and services against client need, labour market evidence and equity of access for underserved client populations
  • Design a responsive service or program improvement using a rapid, low-risk pilot approach, co-designed with the communities it is intended to serve
  • Formulate a strategic case for career services, including the equity outcomes they produce, in language senior leaders, funders and institutional partners act on
  • Demonstrate upward influence and executive framing, including advocating for resources and inclusive practice from a position of limited formal power
  • Construct a personal leadership development and sustainability plan, with attention to the additional representation load carried by leaders from equity-deserving groups

Registration Includes

• 3 one-hour recorded webinars to learn at your own pace
• A downloadable certificate upon completion
